Author's Chapter Notes:

Just a short little intro chapter. The pranks don't actually start until later.

This chapter switches POV between Emmett, Alice, and Carlisle.

-Prologue

Emmett POV

April Fools is probably the best holiday ever invented. I mean, really, is there anything more fun than pulling pranks on the ones you love? Or, even better, on people you don't even know? And, of course, when you're immortal you have tons of time to perfect your "Pranking Style".

In the last century or so Jasper and I have officially become known as the April Fools Kings. Well, hey, I'm not complaining. And having Jasper on my side is almost as beneficial as having Edward. Don't get me wrong, I did try to recruit them both, but Edward simply refused to be drawn in by "silly childish games". Oh well, his loss.

However, I decided that this year was the perfect year to introduce a new member into our Royal April Fools Court. A King does, after all, need a Queen. And who better to fill that place then the cutest, most innocent, Cullen of us all?

I smiled secretly to myself. Oh yeah, this year was going to be good.

Crowning the Queen

"April Fools?" Nessie asked as she raised one perfect eyebrow at me. She was giving me that look that clearly stated she thought I was an idiot but I could see something else in her big brown eyes: consideration. She knew, ah yes my little niece knew, just how much fun this one day could prove to be.

I gave her an encouraging smile and hoped that Jasper was helping convince her in his own way as well. "Come on, Ness, it's really a lot of fun."

She chewed on her lower lip and those big eyes of hers drifted off to the right. She really was thinking this over.

Cone on, I prayed, you'll love it.

Oh, the ideas were already spinning in my mind. I just hoped Edward wouldn't ruin anything. Or Alice, at that, though usually she was on our side in secret. It was just hard to hide stuff from her. Ah, but with Nessie around, it would be much easier.

"How do you expect to prank a house full of vampires?" she asked critically.

"Ah, poor naive Nessie," Jasper said as he patted the top of her head and looked down at her as if she was still the size of a five year old.

I smiled mischievously. "We've been doing it for years."

I'm not sure if it was that or another little push from Jasper, but she nodded and even smiled herself. "Alright, I'm in."

Jasper and I shared a look. It was time to let Renesmee in on some of our best tricks and pranks. Of course, we wanted her to come up with some of her own, but she needed something to help her think. Something to go off of.

Alice POV

Rosalie, Bella, and I were sitting in the living room. Bella was absentmindedly watching TV, Rosalie painting her nails, and I...well, I was listening to my husband and brother pull our niece into their dark world of April Fools. This year would be...interesting. That I could already see. I just silently prayed that no one ended up dismembered or burning.

"You realize that next week is April Fools," Rosalie said without glancing up.

That snapped me out of my trance and I nodded. "Oh, yes."

"Well," her golden eyes peeked up at me, "are you going to warn us at all this year?"

I smiled. "Now, Rose, where would be the fun in that?"

She snorted and returned her attention to her nails. "Fun?"

Bella met my eyes, confusion in them, and I smiled again hoping it was sweet and confident. Oh, what Emmett didn't yet understand was that he not only had a new prankster on his hands but he also had a new victim.

Visions started swimming in my mind so I settled back in the couch comfortably to enjoy them.

***

Carlisle POV

I was cleaning off my desk and hanging up my coat when Emmaline, a young aspiring girl, knocked on my door frame. "Dr. Cullen?"

"Yes, Emmaline?" I asked as I turned around and grabbed my keys. When I looked up at her she seemed to be considering something so I gave her my full attention. "Emmaline?"

She sighed. "Dr. Cullen...I was just wondering if it would be...erm...inappropriate to play a few harmless April Fools pranks next week..."

She was saying something else but I failed to pay attention. My mind was miles away, gone the moment the word "April" came from her mouth.

April.

Which meant April 1st.

Which meant April Fools.

Which meant hell was about to be let loose.
