Nicks timing sucks and not in a good way! Though I loved Rob telling him about the almost shagging and Jen telling him off for listening to their conversation.
Bless that shopkeeper for helping out Jen and keeping his mouth shut and TomStu for being such a good friend.
And Jen, such a brave soldier on one hand and a timid scared girl on the other. It will take her some time to get used to it and how to deal with it. Funny how she and Kristen are so much alike and so different at the same time. They are both fiercely loyal, but Jen is wise in the ways of the world and Kristen is wise in the ways of the public. Both can learn a lot from eachother. Jen was so great helping her escape and reassuring her about her friendship with Rob.
Rob, I can't get a handle on in this chapter. He's worried constantly, not really enjoying their time on the island and definately not helping Jen prepare for what to expect when their relationship becomes public knowledge. Jen feels scared most of time when they're outside because she doesn't know what Rob wants and expects of her. Rob is worried because he doesn't know her feelings and doesn't ask her about them. Like when she came back from the deli he thought she was scared, when really she felt sorry for Rob and Kris to go through that daily.
They need to communicate about their wants, needs, fears and desires in order for their relationship to succeed. It's obvious he loves Jen so very much and is very protective of her. So much so, that I can see him pull an Edward and leave her for her "own good", just so she doesn't have to live under the public scrutiny with the paparazzi chasing her. If he does pull a stunt like that it will break her (and him) for sure. His pained expression in the end there really doesn't forbode anything good! What is he regretting?
Can't wait to see what happens next, to find out what Rob has discussed with Nick and what has him so pained and regretful.
Do you have any idea yet how many chapters this story will have?

Yeah- Nick has a way of getting in the way, doesn't he? He'll be around more in the next few chapters as Rob has to get back into work mode.
The shopkeeper. I truly think there is a sense of pride and loyalty to the Brits when they see one of their own needing assistance. Like Sophy, the shopkeeper knows Rob needs that bit of protection and privacy. and TomStu- i think he'd take a bullet for Rob sometimes. I'd love to get to know him.
Jen has such a duality. she can take alot. But what she is most fragile in is this relationship. Love is her weakness. She had it unconditionally with her father, but she knows how it can be lost or simply not offered too. Love is fragile to her, which makes her fragile. She'll fight to keep Rob, but in the back of her head, she is worried that this young man- who is wise beyond his years but still so inexperienced in relationships, that he may decide its not worth the pain. ANd Jen can learn a lot from Kristen they can learn from each other.
What is Rob thinking? Is he thinking just that? Is he regretting bringing her into his world? Is he finally realizing she was right all along and they need to wait to come out. He was all for it... now.... we'll see.
I promise, next chapter we get answers. We'll see a bit of Nick and how Rob handles going back to work.
Oh...how many chapters... We are definitely much closer to the end than the beginning... I am trying to finishing it in the 60's.... I have the outline laid out to about 55 right now... but where i want to end it puts it further than that.... gulp... I have a hard deadline. you'll see.hehehe

Loved the way you handled the "real" life pics. This chapter was really beautifully written. Can't wait for more...And, I LMAO when jen told Kristen what she thought of everything, and then...was Laughing when she told Nick off and snorted in laughter at what Rob said about the shagging. wow, this was def a hard read.. not because of the whole kris and rob thing but just the ridicilouse of the are they or aren't they... you do a wonderful job of really giving us a real look at the craziness they seem to live while we all wonder...
so sad for them all, esp jen and rob..they don't have the luxuary to just be... like all us normal people. and i really like your kris, funny how i could see her as your kris in rl, especially if she can react jen's reall view of her blinking, stammering and horrid wig.. only good friends would tell you the truth.
i really wish they could have enjoyed their time in vetnor...but we can always hope rob and jen can get away later on for just some alone time...
oh, and I am so loving tomstu! I might have to add him to my bf list.. below rob of course.

Loved Jen to the rescue. She was brilliant! And so fearless. Although it's obvious from her reaction later in the chapter that she didn't know quite what she was getting into. Great chapter. You really captured the emotion of the situation and made me see their predicament in a whole new way. Terrific!

Jen is god in the moment, fearless when pushed- but yes, i think she really truly sees the madness for the first time here. It's so much more intense in real life... Nothing like the pictures or the videos to be sure.

I am amazed at the thought and detail you put into each chapter. You put yourself in that frame of mind and it just seems to pour out of you. Your chapters are nice and long - I really don't like short, choppy, bits of story - and yet you update so quickly!
This definately gave insight as to what they have to go through.

Once again, I am so amazed, finally putting together that this was written last year. DUHH!! Just amazing, so intense, I loved the dance part, and the demands! My hubby enjoyed me narrating to him the part where Jen tasted the disco stick!

Nice work, Steph! Well written and thought out. I could feel Jen's stress and angst. Rob needs to lighten up though. She's not made of glass. She's been through worse and come out the other side whole but a bit scarred. Losing a husband is a helluva lot worse than facing some douchbags with cameras.
Author's Response: thanks so much my dear. yes, Jen has a lot to deal with. It's funny- Rob so wants to come ouit, but he fails to realize really jsut that will mean. regardless of how the being in public affects him, he forgets really what it was like that first time.
She definitely not made of glass. she can hold her own. but he has his doubts now seeing her there for the first time.
But she is strong. she'll pull thru. that's all she has ever done. she has always only had herself. SHe can handle the cameras, but can Rob?
Will Rob be able to handle how the public treats her? hmmmm.

I can't imagine the pressure, to be his girl... because you would be hated, by some. BUT not everyone. I still think that some of the craziness would die down if they would just admit it. Maybe at first it would be a little crazy, but it would die down.. the speculation is what has kept the fire burning for the past two years about Rob and Kris. There's always some new drama or intrigue out there that will take their place. I thought this past weekend was ridiculous. Again with the intrusion and the fans just eat it up. I had to ignore my twitter for awhile..
Author's Response: yes, certainly not by everyone. coming out would help, i agree- on both RL and ROBJEN. the frenzy would die down.
the pressure has to be so intense. you have to really wonder why to keep it up? sigh.
i full heartedly agree. this weekend was ridiculous on so many counts. If we took a stand and said no, we don't want this (the intrusion- i could care less about the relationship- it's not my business)

Fantastic chapter, Steph. I think you really captured the insanity that is Rob + whoever, (Kristen/Jen) so well. I was at Comic-Con last year (2009) and the Twilight movie thing w/the cast afterwards and it was absolutely INSANE. It is amazing to me that, even w/the security no one has gotten hurt - THANK GOD, and that includes them and the fans alike.
I also wanted you to know that my productivity at work today was in the negative numbers (I'm a secretary) because I discovered your/Jen's photobucket...sigh : )
As for Nick, well, there is something that his name rhymes with that pretty much sums it up...He's really going to have to redeem himself after the shit he pulled.

Completely and utterly awesome chapter Steph...that was one of my favorites so far...the absolute chaos, the never-ending scrutiny...I don't know how any of them live through it.
And I totally agree with your note...you don't have to be any of the ridiculous labels that people define themselves with in regards to Rob and Kristen's relationship, whatever it may be. But as a card-carrying member of the human race, I feel absolutely horrible for what they go through just to live their lives. This really did what you wanted it to...it made me think. And I have to say, Jen will have a lot to deal with. I guess for me it boils down to this - not wanting to be with Rob because of his celebrity is as bad as only wanting him for that reason. What Jen sees is that what he does is not who he is. He's just a man, and but one that is worth going through the fire for, because of the man he is on the inside, the one she is sees when the camera flashes stop and the doors close on the rest of the world. And to her, that is the man that is worth it.
Just beautiful Steph. I adored this chapter!

Aw I love that Jen was like the Mother Hen in this chapter. You've really created an amazing person in her. and you aslo made me think of a different side of Kristin. My heart is in my throat right now and I feel a little sick. Jen's dream really shook me, it hurt....to see Kris and Rob walking ahead of her and getting further and further away and then to see the look in Nick's eyes, the pain and regret in Rob's. You literally made me cry. And I don't mean just a few tiny tears----my heart broke for Jen and I CRIED!!!! I can't begin to imagine what all she is going to have to deal with, to learn how to handle, to suck it up, to get thicker skin, etc. And I did really have to stop and think about how Rob handles all of this in RL. And do we as his fans make it harder, more difficult for him to have any semblence of a normal life? There are a lot of us who I know honestly respect him and I hope that were I ever to meet him I would show him the respect and privacy he deserves. But we all know that there are fans, photographers, etc out there who show him no respect at all. How does a person live like that? How do you survive? How do you cope? How do you grow as a person? How do you form relationships? Very difficult questions with no easy answers.
This was a great chapter. It made me stop and think, it made me cry, it made me mad, and sad.
Author's Response: Wow! that's all I can say right now. I've read you review a half dozen times, and each time I tear up.
All those questions are what I ask myself every day as i write this, it's what made me write this from the very beginning. How does one cope with it all when it is thrust upon you?
And Jen. she has so much to prepare for. We haven't REALLY thought about that yet...until now. Rob was so ready to be out. but it really is a BIG thing, maybe something he has forgotten or grown numb to. It affects him still, sure, you can see it in his face, in his hunch. But Jen has never before felt the chaos that is fame. not directly.
The dream has meaning, most certainly it does. is this hiding thing a good thing? being apart from him. it affects them both so much. how will they do it?
sigh. your words make me feel so good about writing this story. to make us STOP and think about his life and of those around him.
that's all i ever wanted. and you got it. everything.
