Beautiful chapter. A few tears, but good ones. Her anguish at seeing her father-in-law again, and her resolve, was truly touching.
And, her goodbye to Mike was perfect. *sigh* Really, a wonderful chapter. Can't wait to see what else awaits her in L.A. Hmmm... ;)

Wow Steph that really was so sad. I sniffled a bit, but tried to be brave!! Poor Jen, I really felt for her. But like she said, she couldn't have done it without Rob. He really does love her. I'm so glad she'll be home soon. Hopefully then she'll get a talking to from mummy Pattz about going to the doctors...

Even with our psychic link... and knowing what was coming... there are parts of this that made me laugh, parts of this that made my heart clench, and parts that made me sigh. I'm not usually a crier (you keep using up all our tears on the Folger's commercials!) but I get this clenchy feeling in my chest. I imagine that's how the vamps feel when they want to cry. And that happened a lot.
Mr. Wright. How sad that she bears such guilt from what happened after Mike died that her relationship with his father became that strained. Really tragic. And I giggle-snorted several times as she attempted to covertly introduce a new significant other into her life without actually saying who he was. Then her relief that he didn't know. And then the crazy cat lady comparisons! OMG those were really hysterical, in case you weren't sure. I can imagine he would think she was off her meds if she appeared out of the blue with that news.
Visiting his grave... I don't know if you watch Bones, but they once talked about visiting gravesites on that show, and I found it to be quite touching. Some might say I'm "cold" when it comes to them - I have only gone to my father's once, and I have no desire to return. It's his detritus there, not "him." I see him more every day in the mirror, or in my strange sense of humor, or in my debating skills, than I would visiting his headstone. But how do you find those memories with a significant other? Particularly when the accident that took him also took your unborn child? You see his face in his father's, but there is no son to remind you. And if you detach from your life with him, you have no physical reminders. Poor Jen.
This was beautifully written. The right balance of sexpender pants, Rob finding out more about his many fans' obsessions via Google, the smelly car, and all the other little bits of life that provide a counter to the pain of what she had to do with Mr. Wright and the unraveled ends of her own life.
Loved it! Love you. Can't tell you enough how amazed I am at what you covered here. Brilliant. Rob can't even review this one. He's sitting poolside, smoking. But you touched him, dearest. We need a Spinal Tap review rating system, because this one needs to go to 11.

it truly is tragic that she couldn't continue her relationship with her in-laws. But can you imagine, looking every day at a man who looks like what your husband would look like twenty years later... i couldn't do it..
she was trying so hard to be covert, wasn't she? and for him not to get it until he finaly made the film connection.. yes..she is crazy... jsut not cat lady crazy....adn her manic sort of way she tried to handle it all, as she is falling apart... funny and tragic at once...
the grave... see you and i are on the wavelength (gasp...no really?!) for most, i don't see the body as the person..its a vessel and when they go they are gone... in the ether... in heaven , what ever you like to call it... i remember with memory and visual reminders. but yes... like seeing mikes dad was hard by visual, how do you find it all when youhave lost him in such a way, and the intangible grip of losing your unborn. nothing but pictures and memories remain... and really, she pushed all that away, only a few pictures she kept out as a reminder. no clothes (like her dad's clothes) no lock of hair or his uniform. nothing tangible.
glad you liked teh humor amongst the pain... i needed it for my own sanity, and so did jen... she wouldn't share the Blue moon with me...
so glad i touched him... now push him into the pool and tell him to stop being such a cheeky bugger and help my finish the OTTs without going record long! LOL

Definitely a tough chapter - glad I had kleenex handy. I hate cemetary scenes. Between this and Remember Me I think I've had my quota of crying jags for the year. I think I'm going to hide under the covers for awhile. Wonder if her out of the blue surprise call will do away with his unannounced surprises - nah.........

Funny, serious and sad all in one chapter.
From the smelly crapmobile, to visions of Rob in stoli, sexpenders, sexdrive boots and Rome Rob hair - hilarious to oh my god I just died and went to heaven. Then we have Mr Wright thinking she must be some crazy disollusional fan and oh so sad saying goodby to Mike. You took her on an emotional rollercoaster with that one Steph.
So what next, are we going to get to root around in his apartment and find out some secrets. I'd bet there'd be some interesting shit in there, well if the car can give up the motherload what's in the apartment.
Can't wait to see what you have in store for the sexpenders when she gets back to London.
As always gagging for the next update. I'll just have to settle for my Robporn stash in the meantime.

Thank you for the warning - it was sad. Great job with it though, that's such a tough topic to write. And poor Rob, wanting to be there for her so badly.
I did appreciate the comic relief with all the funny smells of Rob's belongings. And the sex pants. Sweet!
And, i did kind of love when Jen called up Rob during her meeting w/her FIL to prove her relationship. I kind of wanted to stick out my tongue, too.

Oh Steph...I am so glad that this updated today (Sunday) and not tomorrow. The tears were flowing freely, and still are actually. I've never had to let go of a spouse and can't imagine having to. Tomorrow will be 4 years since I lost my grandmother (Nana) and I know as painful as that still is, it doesn't hold a candle to this.
Beautifully done. I am still wondering tho - is Jen going to see a doctor before she goes back to London? I know, I know...wait and see.... : )

So my heart is aching and I was hoping that the next chapter would hit the queue before I finished this one, but I am going to survive. First I just have to say...

Kicking ficNick's ass was just stellar. And that Joe gets "tickled" in the process proves she was a woman on a mission. I absolutely loved it. I could see it so clearly. Almost heard the sound of fist meeting jaw. Ahhh, divine.
Rob being Rob, worried about her not getting there even when he provided the transportation, security, and destination. How cute is that, really? We do seem to like having our women stay in his apartments without him, don't we.
Finally, when I post chapters 55 and 56, I want you to remember that I was reading this while I was writing them. Because you'll understand then why I'm unable to say much here except well done and I'm going to have my belt and shoelaces confiscated now. brb.
ILY! *mwah* Errr... six weeks from this very moment, I predict that we shall be on our way to drunken giggling. Just sayin'.

I have to say, ET, I'm glad I can read these all at once because I don't think I would have handled the waiting well at all. But of course, you still manage to make me smile. One of the things she must have gotten from being raised largely by men is the aversion to doctors. You know, cuz really. How long has it been? Denial ain't just a river is all I'm sayin'. *taps foot impatiently*
The Nick dreams are wild, by the way. The pain of packing, the reality of only having six boxes. The Mustang... She needs to get that to LA and replace the BMW. Of course, now I have the image of driving with one finger, the fear he has even being behind the wheel. He probably has a POS car because he's afraid he's going to crash all the time. You know, after taking the crash course. heh heh.
Finally, the way that you've done the phone calls is awesome. Him asking her at the end of every call. That's how Joanna is on every business trip. Even when she knows. And he is so young, really. And insecure and scared and in love. All those things. I must read on! I love you, ET! *mwah*

Ok - three days of straight reading has brought me to this chapter. What an incredible ride!
I have to say that I was not initially interested in reading a ff of Rob and someone other than Kristen. (Even though I am not exactly a huge fan of hers) Nevertheless, the plot didn't really appeal to me and I avoided reading this for some time. Boy, was I ever wrong!
I love the touch of Knotting Hill as Rob seeks refuge in Jen's Tea shop. When Rob tells Jen that it took him one minute to change into Leroys jump suit and implied that he was enjoying watching Jen scwirm - I was hooked.
I love how you have weaved in all of the fanfic pics to create the story line. (Obviously I am guilty of knowing exactly which pictures or events that you were referring to! - Yes, crazy fanfic girl here.
Every character has been developed beautifully in this story and of course Rob is as always, swoon worthy.
I could spend a great deal of time writing about the 50 chapters that I have recently read, however, I'll leave the writing to you.
I will say that this is an amazing story and is certainly in the ranks of MOTU, CWIA and The office. I'm just loving this.
I hope that Jen's illness will lead to leaving the little boys room untouched in their London home. Tee Hee!
Keep on writing - Now I need to catch up on On the threshold while I wait for your next chapter update.
