You've been hanging around Kris too long. The humor in the midst of all the tension is rubbing off on you. Go Kris! Let's hear it for SuperRob! Who knew he'd be such a take charge kinda guy in the midst of everything. Taking on Clare - didn't even think twice about it. Would love to know what was going through Mack's head going down the freeway. Poor Joe - getting stuck in first class with a cello for a seat companion will make for an interesting resume some day. "You babysat a what?"

So glad Rob and Jen are back together again. And I like how neither of them let Nick off the hook, even though he really has redeemed himself. Sorta.
It was hard to read about Rob sitting on the balcony crying.In one day he had to face a lot; realizing he could have lost Jen, but that he also lost a baby.
Love how your story flows so well. It's easy to read and understand what is happening. Myhighschool friend Vanessa is here visiting after not seeing eachother for 23 years! We both read the fan fic stuff- I got her started on it actually. We read this chapter together.
Can't wait for the next update..

together is the only way they will both heal, and to keep Nick in check, so important, regardless of how much he repents, he will always be under Jen's watchful eye.

I just lost it when you described Rob on the balcony weeping. My heart just broke. They really do need to grieve together about this. So sad. I'm so glad they are getting the hell out of LA. I wouldn't blame Jen if she never went back. So very many horrible memories. I love how Jen handled Nick. She let him know in no uncertain terms that she thinks he is an asshole, but she appreciated what he did for her. So glad he is scared. Ah, the hammock again. I already have mine purchased, beer in the fridge, just waiting for HHH. The things I have planned for him. UNF

Jen and Nick. she has enough to deal with. but she is smart enough to know when someone was there for her. and he is scared of her. which is a good thing. it will put things in perspective for him as much as for ROBJEN.
ah the hammock.. can't get past it, even with the tux photos.. just can't get past swinging in a hammock....

Steph, Steph, Steph. That was brilliant! I loved the reference to the shattered porceline doll. How appropriate since the reference was made in the last chapter of The THreshold. BRILLIANT I TELL YOU!!
Rob tears on the balcony sent me to find a new box of kleenex, The realization that he created a child and could have been a father was heartwrenching. I love this Rob!
Nick is finally redeeming himself. Once again, I'm in a whirlwind of emotion as I just finished reading the last chapter of Threshold where Nick had admitted to stalking Jen and watching her fall apart in front of him with. Bastard!
Anyway, always thrilled when I see your posts. I get as excited as a school girl.
Looking forward to see Rob deal with this issue when they're home and for Jen to start healing - physically and mentally.

Author's Response: ahhhh. i am hugging you right now for noticing the doll imagery. it is something i am truly enjoying about the two stories being written. there is so much that can be played into with the other, usually OTT getting something from NTE, but here... sigh... so glad you liked that! that doll owns me... just so you know.
the balcony... a very difficult thing to write. but one of my favourite images. in a sad-wanna-hug-him sort of way.
Again...Nick, being played simultaneously between both stories, and really only those reading both stories will see his actions fully.. love that.
home will be interesting... trying to find normalcy, and still dealing with it all, and add to that Bel Ami... sigh... a lot to process for out poor boy!

You have outdone yourself! The way you managed everything in this chapter was outstanding. You could do Nick's job times 2! Now that you are revealing more about what Nick had been through, his actions make sense, even though he was still so wrong. The ending to this chapter took my breath away. It was beautiful and hopeful.

I think Rob was too concerned with the state she was in to really be upset at this point. They haven't really talked about it all that much. I'm sure he will work through all his emotions concerning the matter as will she. I realize they have a long way to go to work through this tragedy, but it seems as if they are both willing to put in the work. Another wonderfully written chapter.

he is definitely more concerned about her well being than worrying about his own anger. its about survival for him, he needs to get her to a better place before he can judge. they have a ways to go, but together, they'll be able to tackle it.

It's like you don't realize that it's dark until you see the sunrise, that's how I felt about Rob's arrival.
They still obviously have some thing to work through, but Rob is Jen's sun (and vice versa), so you know it's going to be ok.
Can't wait for this chapter in OTT, really want to know what is going on in Rob's brain during the balcony scene.
And this moment made me giggle out loud...

I am so proud of your Rob for the way that he dealt with Jen. He was a true rock. Just what she needed. They do have alot of talking to do to be able to heal for the both of them, he is obviously feeling inadequate for not being contacted, but I hope he can see her reasoning. She needs to realise that she is worth it, and that she is the most important thing in his world.
I loved the epiphany she had at the end there. She CAN do this, and she WILL do this.

He has his own issues to deal with, but he knew what she needed in order to pull herself out of the hole she had buried herself in. they definitely have a lot to work out.
