Oh, Starla... I so want more. I can't wait to see what she does with him in the workout. I'm sure she thinks it will be her chance to get even, but I honestly think she's going to have a tough time just being alone with him. For someone who seems to lack a filter most of the time, he sure as hell has a malfunctioning one here! Poor Jess. What is it about men in general that prevents them from being honest about their feelings? If half the stuff in his head were said, she'd be able to sort through the rest. But he's leaving her with no safe landing place, so she has no choice but to steel herself and just forget it.

Interesting turn of events in the bathroom... and I have to believe that he had lipstick all over his face when he was finally face-to-face with Nikki, so it would have been a very interesting conversation to hear. Why did he freak out? I don't doubt that there was something there. I think he has a tendency to not say anything, which would mean he gets the blame a lot because his side never comes out. I think he's embarrassed about what happened, and certainly doesn't want to be caught making out with Kellan's roommate in the kids' bathroom.
So my question is this... what was she doing there? It's not like she was part of the make-believe play. It couldn't have been the most convenient bathroom. And she was clearly looking for Rob. So... why?
I hope you're able to post more frequently, since I'm now out of chapters! No more happy little red Next link to click. Let me know if you want to chat!

Oh, Kellan... he surprised me when he suggested that Jess be Rob's trainer. Maybe he's hoping that she'll be enough of a drill sergeant that he isn't interested any more.
She needs to have a chat with Kellan, but maybe she's not seeing these knowing glances. Plus, Rob said his place would be ready in two weeks, so maybe he figures with just one week to go that he can cockblock it effectively enough to not worry any more.
I had to laugh... I've done the "faux sex noises" to annoy my male bffs enough times that I snorted when I read that. Honestly, I already had an older brother, so I sure as hell didn't need three more. And that's what I had. So when I would fool around with a friend of on of them, they'd get all caveman on me and I'd just go overboard. In hindsight, I probably went further, faster just to show them that I would. Hmmm...

Well, I think Kellan will be nervous and disappointed and probably come home early and with someone just to introduce another girl to the mix, maybe show that Rob will flirt with anyone. But who knows? You do, that's who!
Kellan is interesting. Clearly he wants to see Jesslyn happy and he's known Rob for a short while in very unique circumstances. We know that Rob says he has very high and impenetrable walls, and Kellan is kind of a "face value" guy, so he's probably going to call things as he sees them.
But the thing he described with Nikki is a real experience for him that says something about Rob. Of course, having his best friend play burned lover doesn't seem to strike him as particularly horrible, or he manages to stay quite cheery in spite of a great deal of self-loathing, so his perceptions are a bit off. He's being protective of her, and it's sweet. It is perfectly reasonable to think that any relationship that starts at that age and in their differing circumstances is going to end with someone breaking it off with someone else. Clearly, Kellan doesn't want to see her hurt, but does that mean she should never risk hurt and therefore never have happiness? Or is he really convinced that Rob will break her hurt and think nothing of it?
Time to find out more... I do think he'll be home sooner rather than later, but we'll see. I also wonder if Rob will get the bed for more than a few hours this night. Great job, Starla!

Well, well! What a shame that she passed out. At least she sort of remembers the hallway passion. But she's still interested and he's still interested, so it would seem that they could experiment with an alternate ending pretty quickly. Perhaps he needs to confirm one last time with Kellan that he's free and clear to give it a shot, but she's already assured him that her bed is much more comfortable than the sofa. So get crackin', Robert!
Breakfast was fun. She should have invited him shopping. Ah well. Let's see how lunch goes! Conference call in the afternoon sounds almost like she can work from home, but she said something about going in to work, so hmmm...

Oh, thank heavens she asked him. I loved what you did here... it started out like he was going to be all super-flirty love-muffin perfection, and then she had one good response to him and the real Rob came out to play. He was multi-dimensional and vulnerable. He also was fun.
You know how I am about cooking, so it was very exciting to see him hit the kitchen with at least a smidgen of confidence. He says he can't cook, but I don't know how much of that is true. He also has said that growing up, they didn't have a microwave, so I'd have to guess that his mother is a good cook. I know my husband grew up in a house where his mother was a great cook and he had no idea how to make anything but a fried egg when I married him, but it's entirely possible that Rob knows how to do some things.
I also like how she didn't completely suppress her natural self, even if she was a little upset at how much she was giggling. That's normal for any person interested in another person "that way," regardless of whether its, you know, the-most-attractive-man-on-the-planet, ahem. But I can't wait to see how he answers her question.

I love that she was busted eavesdropping! I'm sorry she sprained her ankle, but just [wo]man up and get out there, you know? But I'm glad that she got out there to face him. Nasty man, wandering out there shirtless and getting all sweaty in the living room. Dirty, naughty boy... and poor Jess!
I'm glad that Ashley clued her in to what she knew. Surprised at the revelation about the biting - too funny! - but it will help her to have a girlfriend in the inner circle. Kellan clearly isn't any help, seeing as he left her alone in the house with him with no clues whatsoever.
I'm intrigued about how you "flesh out" your Rob... off to the Next!

And so finally they meet! I wonder how Kellan is feeling about this infatuation of Rob's. It must have been so different for all of them before Twilight came out. Back when they were still relatively unknown and able to have at least a little fun. Even though it seems that Jess and Ashley were having more than just a little fun.
I loved her dream but not her awakening reality. Ugh - Jaeger... blech. Tastes just like Nyquil to me. And why do we always have THAT FRIEND who feels the need to wake you up so you can greet your hangover? Like it won't wait! Or wake me on its own. Sheesh.
So she's teasing the wrong man, huh? I like how self-deprecating you make Rob. I can't wait to see what happens when he reaches her on the dance floor. And I thought he didn't dance! Hmmm. I also think he's their overnight guest. I hope she can recover her stomach and shave her tongue before they bump into each other in the living room!

Ugh... I feel for Jess. It's hard enough meeting a group of new people when they all know each other and you don't know any of them. Add a costume party... with a costume you didn't pick... and aren't totally comfortable wearing... poor girl. My sympathies.
I love how you convey her anxiety. Especially when she thinks of herself as "arm candy" for him. This seems like just a fun party with his friends, so why does she think she's just a decoration? Seems like maybe she needs to understand better why he's brought her. Is it because he's interested it a little more, or perhaps just missed her friendship? Or maybe he has someone he thinks she should meet...

Hey, Starla! I like the premise... my besties in college were guys and I had to do a fair amount of pretending to be a girlfriend when necessary. I thought it was the least I could do considering the times that it probably HURT their chances because it was assumed I was the gf even when I wasn't. I spent a lot of time in bathrooms and corners swearing I wasn't dating them. Kind of odd, now that I think about it.
I like the way you trickle their past through the story... her family must have been beside themselves. I can only imagine what her parking bill at the airport must have been - hahaha! I can't wait to see what kind of mischief she and Kellan will get up to, and of course it's only a matter of time before our man shows up. Apparently, though, Kellan's not the only one who should be pursuing an acting career. *snort*

yeah i guess it had been a while cause i had to go back to see what happened in the previous chapters - but its all good - you're story is great so i didn't mind rereading it :)

Author's Response: It has been a long time since I updated, and I feel terrible about that! Thank you so much for sticking with me! :-) Everything with Nikki will be explained in due time. But, I have to completely agree with you on the whole not being a big fan of Nikki thing. The Nikki in this story is based on my own personal take on things she's said in interviews and the way she acts towards Rob... You'll also notice that... a certain someone has only been mentioned once in this story. I'm not a huge fan of another cast member either haha :-) Thanks for reading and reviewing, bb!
