I'm 38 year's old. I've lived in Washington State my entire life and my 13 year old daughter got me into Twilight when I took her to see the movie as a treat opening weekend. I've been into vampire fandoms since I was very young and I have even attended the Vampire Lestat Ball in New Orleans on Halloween Weekend 2006, but had little interest in Twilight at first. I read the books after I saw the movie. Honestly it was Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart that caught my eye in the beginning. I also nearly fell out of my chair in the theater when I saw that they used Kalama Middle School-High School for the exterior of Forks High, as that was the school I attended for several years in grade school. I had no idea the books were set in Washington. I grew up camping and hiking on the Olympic Peninsula. Hiking the beaches of the Washington coast and cooking on open fires there. Then I read SM's description's of my home and learned that she had written them without ever seeing it; and also herself having lived most of her life in a place that is nearly the exact opposite of it I was hooked. I still can't wrap my mind around the world's fascination with Forks. To me it has always been just a wide spot in the road, but Western Washington is place of ethereal and eternal beauty, the perfect setting for such a mystical tale.
