Why does Jake have to ruin everything? lol Is Edward really that dense that he doesn't see that Carlie is his child? Author's Response: I don't think he's looking! If you know, the likeness is indisputable, but you have to remember that he has no idea that he could be the father of a child, so he won't be trying to join any dots up. I imagine him looking at Carlie and seeing Bella in her.
And yes, Jake has thrown a spanner in the works - but at least he is not a romantic element in Bella's life, he is just the friend he was always meant to be.
