About a lot of rejection that Bella recieves, and how she handles it.

His question brought Bella back down from cloud nine. She glowered at him. “Bite me.”

A slow, wicked grin etched itself on Edward’s face. “I don’t think you’d want me to,” he whispered darkly, laughing silently at the irony of her insult.

“I know I smelled an open wound, Bella,” Alice said sternly. Behind her, Carlisle and Edward exchanged a look.

Bella scoffed slightly. “Believe me, I felt it,” she told her as she tried to stand.

“You don’t understand,” Edward said in a deadly tone.

Bella stared at him for a moment, a bitter expression overcoming her features. “There’s something for me to understand?”

“Fuck her!” she heard one of them call.

“Oh, I will,” the man above her answered.

Her smile faded after a moment when she realized something. “Oh, great,” she started grumpily, “we match.”

Edward grinned lopsidedly. “Indeed, we do,” he replied.

“You’re funny,” Edward said dryly. “I bet you wouldn’t be saying the same thing if you were the one who turned up missing.”

“Are you trying to scare me, Mr. Cullen?” Bella asked as she snapped a picture.

"Bella, listen to me,” he tried coaxing her gently.

“No!” Bella shouted, pulling her arms out of his grip. “I never want to see you again. Stay away from me,” she said through clenched teeth, and no matter what she did, she couldn’t stop the tears from falling.

He cupped her face with both hands while looking into her eyes. “If you don’t find me, who’s killed before, whose diet consists of blood, repulsive, how can I look at you in that way?” he asked her softly.

"What kind of man are you?!” Bella pushed and slapped his chest as she raged. She was becoming unhinged.

“Bella, don’t come,” her mother said weakly. “Whatever he says, don’t come—” 

“No! That’s not what you’re supposed to say!” a voice exclaimed in the background.

A tear escaped Bella’s eye as she listened to her mother’s cries as he hit her.

Edward nodded. “You’re safe now, Bella,” he told her tenderly as he softly massaged her cheek.
