Summary:

"An eternity of solitude. That was what I had to look forward to now. For I knew no one could take her place, and nothing could fill me with the joy of existence ever again. Aloneness. That was all."

Jasper's journey of discovery after leaving the Cullen family and dealing with all the obstacles of a vegan existence, even when temptation takes a physical form and acquaintances from his past make doing so particularly difficult.

Story Notes:

This is my first attempt at Twilight fanfiction, and I'm very nervous it. I chose to write a Jasper story because I find him the most intriguing character; we know so little about what goes on inside his head (one of the reasons why this is written in first person).

However, I'm warning you that I have BROKEN UP a canon pairing (Alice/Jasper) before the start of this story. If this upsets you, DO NOT read.

This doesn't mean that I am not an Alice/Jasper fan-in fact I love them dearly. However, I had this idea which required me to split them up, as much as it pained me. I was originally going to kill her, but I love Alice too much to erase her completely.

I wanted to experiment with the result of Jasper experiencing the kind of "singer" that both Emmett and Edward have. I knew that he was the least likely to be able to resist the temptation, and the idea instantly intrigued me.

Now I'm done rambling, so continue on if you dare.
