Hi, great tale. I just discovered it and plan to follow it. I also play with history in my own stories, therefore I have them happening in Italy, since I am Italian.

To this effect, can you translate for me in kilos Edward's weight?  I know zilch about 'stones'.

The issue of vampire weight is a bone of contention between me and my husband. He maintains that a vamp should weight about 500 Kg,  but then  the vampire could not take a lift, would flatten the seat of plane and create problems, and also flatten the seats of any public vehicle he happens to board.  Both in canon and non canon stories set in modern times we see them doing fhose things. Now, you gave a reference to mass, but I am too ignorant to understand it.

Author's Response:

Thanks for your interest.  I meant to explain the "stone" reference in my author's note but forgot.  It's an ancent british measurement for weight that is somewhat variable, but typically means 6.35 kilograms.  Someone at his height and fitness level(warrior, remember?) should weigh about 90kg or 195-200lbs.

The law of conservations of mass says, and I'm seriously paraphrasing here, that in a given energy system no mass can be created or destroyed.  Another way to say it would be: You can't create mass/weight; it has to come from somewhere, because it can be redistributed.  So, unless vampires are soaking up mass(read:weight, although they aren't the same thing) from an outside source, they have to weigh roughly the same.  It doesn't seem likely to me that the vampire transformation would be facilitated by their bodies soaking up dirt or moisture from the air, or some other ridiculous thing.  I just can't envision that.

If that was confusing, I'm sorry.  I'm good at comprehension, but total crap at explaining.

thanks for reviewing

Thanks so much for updating! I enjoyed the flip between the present and the past, it was very smooth! I can't wait to find out more about Aedwaerth's past and how he met the Cullens

Author's Response:

I'm glad you like it, because that's how the whole story will go.  I love historical fiction and weaving interesting facts into my writing. Thanks for reviewing.

Hmmm, this is very interesting. A new twist on the basic premise, having Tanya be the one to change Edward. Boy, she won't be happy when Bella comes on the scene (if she does, of course). Actually, there's a new dynamic there—having Bella turn up at Forks High, and Edward's her Bio teacher. I can almost hear The Police's 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' (if I wasn't listening to Alanis Morissette).

I can't wait to read more!

Author's Response:

Great song.  I'd be lying if I said that it hadn't crossed my mind at least once while plot planning.

LOL Loved the fact that when Edward turned he ran for the hills away from Tanya!! Just too funny!!! The vampire biology idea in this chapter was really interesting too!!!

Author's Response:

The collective distaste for Tanya seems to have seeped into my consciousness.  I consider her to be slightly unhinged and one batshit crazy broad.

I love this story. I love the science, the history, Edward's character development -- all of it. Truly looking forward to more.

THIS IS A FANTASTIC CHAPTER

Reviewer: Queendel (Signed) · Date: January 21, 2010 04:20 PM · On: Vampire Biology

I like this set up.  So, Edward is going to be a teacher at Forks.  Well, if Bella is going to be almost eighteen, please make Edward no more than twenty-one.  Update soon.

Author's Response:

This edward was changed at 23.  I haven't looked up Washington's statutory rape laws, but Bella will be 18 a month into the school year, so we shouldn't have any jailbait issues.  And considering the taboos they are already breaking, this one seems minor to me.  Remember, Edward is really 1500+ years old.  That's the age gap I'd like to focus on here.

Thanks for your review!

I have a feeling that Alice is holding back something important!  And that extra burn will show up in his class!

Reviewer: snowgood (Signed) · Date: January 16, 2010 07:03 PM · On: With Gaping Maw

Chilling!  Being stalked unknowingly for years, but with instincts that attune him to unknown danger-somehow he knew that his mortality was soon to be extinguished!

Reviewer: snowgood (Signed) · Date: January 16, 2010 06:48 PM · On: The Dark Curtain

So good!  To see the veritable difference in the way his mind thought and the circumstances he was in while he was still human!

I'm intrigued by this sad, pensive man.  Reading on...

Somehow, the image of her having a "gaping maw" after her presentation of such beauty is entirely appropriate.

I find it good that Tanya's been stalking him for years.  Waiting.  Watching.  I really thought, though, that she'd at least introduce herself before going for his jugular.  How rude. ;-)

Your descriptions are beautiful. :)

Author's Response:

I have this idea that vampires that long ago, and those living nomadic lifestyles like hers, would have zero restraint and civility. And Tanya's pretty primal chick anyway.

Reviewer: LJ Summers (Signed) · Date: January 14, 2010 01:53 PM · On: The Dark Curtain

Ah, introduction to Aedwaerth.  Interesting permutation of his name!

It is so like the character to be displeased with himself and his inherent worth.  Nicely expressed.  And the idea that he might be afraid of the dark...even a glancing, whimsical thought, is intriguing to me.

What will he find beyond he dark curtain, I wonder?

You are laying a good foundation. I look forward to watching the story rise.

very interesting! I'll be looking forward to see where you take this. I really like all of the historical details!

Reviewer: Evil Black Poppies (Signed) · Date: January 11, 2010 10:27 AM · On: Prologue

I loved this! The voice in the story was clear, fluid, and fit perfectly to that of one who had been around for centuries. I love the use of the present tense in this because it is rare to see it in this fandom.

Keep it up and I can't wait to read more! ~Sam (AKA EvilBlackPoppies)

great writting

looking forward to more

please tell me you finish ----- I only say this b/c there are so many stories that are started and never finished.

Author's Response:

I have every intention of finishing.  And the plot outline is already done, which I consider the hard part.  Ideally I'll update every 1-2 weeks.

Reviewer: LJ Summers (Signed) · Date: January 09, 2010 03:01 PM · On: Prologue

Intriguing prologue, presenting the aspects within your hero that conflict with one another and the world around him.

I am incredibly intrigued by your premise and look forward to seeing how you bring us with you.
