Author's Response: Oh no!! I love Jake - just not for Bells. So they will be the best of friends in my story, but no more. He'll remain very faithful to Leah. There's a closeness with Jacob, but no romance!

This was an excellent chapter, full of so much conflict to really make me think.
It's an interesting position that Joe has been put in. I mean, my initial reaction is to want to slap him and say, "Thanks a lot, loser," on behalf of Bella. On the other hand, I can sympathize with his character a bit (maybe 10% sympathize, 90% want to slap him.) If he truly didn't know how to end things and the accident was the catalyst to make him figure that out, I don't know what other choice he would have. Staying with her when he knew he didn't really love her and would just dump her when she had recovered wouldn't be a stand-up move either. It's an interesting gray area and I like how much this chapter made me think.

There is definitely a mixed reaction to Joe - while what he did was ultimately a jerk move, it really will be better for Bella in the long run. Absolutely a gray area!! I'm glad I was able to make you think and get a reaction from what Joe did - I love it!! :)

Well at least he was honest with her and didn't prolong anything by guilt it just sucks for her because all the emotions and injuries she has to deaql with maybe there will be light at the end for her.

Wow, Joe is a giant prick. He could have at least waited until Bella was back on her feet before bailing. What an absolutely horrible human being.
On a happier note, I loved the new chapter! It was very emotional, I can really understand Bella's pain. She's lucky to have her father and her friends to support her, or I don't knw what would have happened to her. It's clear that she's not out of the woods yet though. She's so depressed... poor thing. I can't wait for the next chapter when Edward makes his appearance. This is a wonderful story and you are a very talented writer. Keep up the excellent work!

Yeah, Joe's a big giant one. LOL. I was hoping it would come across. You can probably get worse than dumping your girlfriend after her mom dies in a car accident and she's lying in a hospital recovering - but probably not by much. Thank you for "getting" Joe.

Damn poor Bella. But in a way I don't fault Joe at all. No point in prolonging the inevitable. It would be much worse if he stayed with Bella out of pity. She would be able to tell.
Ending was very poignant, and again very realistic. I can't wait for more, please update again soon.
Author's Response: Oh, Joe. He's not a horrible guy, but it would have been nice if he at least waited a bit for breaking poor Bella's heart. But I your point - better to just get it over with so she can move on.

Whew, first off this was very believable. I know how easy it is to get angry after something so lifealtering happens to you. I am usually an easygoing person but I changed after the accident, especially in the first 3 years after, going through surgery after surgery, physical therapy etc. I know how irratating it was to watch people walk in front me of me, always ask if I was ok etc...
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I love how realistic you have made it.

Aww :( very nicely written beginning, but such a sad take so far. Having been in an auto accident and having to go through physical therapy so I could walk again I'm curious to see how you treat it. Can't wait for more, I'm moving on ...

I've never been in a car accident, so I hope I'm doing justice to what it would really be like. If I do miss the boat on some stuff, please let me know. I try to keep things as realistic as possible, although some stuff I just have to guess on.

Wow could Joe be more of an ass? He doesn't even have it in him to be a friend or perhaps a compassionate human being? As much as that must hurt anyone would be better off than to have someone like that in their life any way.

Bella had a feeling this was coming, but the way he went about it was a complete surprise. She'll get over it though; especially when a green eyed doctor shows up. :)
