Reviews For With Teeth

It's so poignant to see those two becoming friends again. I love that you don't have them magically get back together...throughout this whole fic things have been so realistic.

I also really like the pacing....you don't drag things on endlessly with discussions of how everyone is feeling, but instead give us these very interesting and telling little scenes.  Love it.

Thank you!

I have three things to say.

1. You are a great author, you write so very vividly and real it seems we live the situations as the characters do. Characters are extremely relatable and not too bad not too god. Just perfect

2. I LOVED THEE BREAK UP it was so incredibly raw and real, and depressing, and the drug addiction you just feel it. I feel like only when that happened did I truly appreciate your value as an author.

 3. I am Colombian, so I took offense in this remark which was made in the first chapters. “Shoving enough up their noses to support an entire Colombian village.” Colombia is so much more than cocaine, for us, it has been really hard to show the world the other side of Colombia. The lovely country with hard working passionate, good people and for there to be careless remarks such as this one really bothers me.  I feel like there's so much to know about Colombia, that people fail to understand.  So, that’s what I wanted to say.

I am really looking forward to your next update. And I can’t believe there’s only two chapters to go! I’m terribly excited.

Author's Response:

I have three things to say.

1. Thanks for saying such nice things about my writing.

2. Edward has the thought about Colombia. Edward is a drug addict and alcoholic. Edward is not me. Shocking, I know. =)

Edward also beats the shit out of (at least) one person over the course of the story, so as a peaceful person, I hope that bothered you. Edward also treats women like shit - remember when he pulls the woman's hair in the first chapter? Or when he agrees to exchange drugs for sex in Chapter 6? Your name indicates (and perhaps that's wrong of me to make this assumption) that you're a woman. I hope, as a woman, those things offended you as well.

A character thinking something is not the same as the author having the thought. I'm assuming you don't think I'm a violent misogynist because a character in my story behaves that way.

Edward's actions and thoughts in the first chapter are generally despicable. I find the assumption you're making - that I think the entire nation of Colombia is nothing but a big cocaine operation - offensive.

I do appreciate your honesty, though.

3. Glad you're looking forward to the final chapters and thanks for taking the time to review.

Reconnection on the most basic of levels....friends  :)

So I took a break from fanfic and hadn't been on this sight for probably 6 months, but I decided to check up on your story again.  And I'd forgotten how much I love your writing.  It's genuine and gritty, and I love it.

I really like the way you've dealt with Edward's addiction.  As a child of an addict, I know recovery isn't easy or simple, and I'm glad you portrayed this realistically, even though I hated to see Edward relapse.

I also love the way you had Bella mature so much and that she didn't just jump willingly into a relationship with Edward again.  (You also didn't make her annoyingly bitter and angry).  Everything about this story is just right-- it's so very realistic.

I can't wait to see how you end things.  I certainly hope (and it looks like, maybe) these two might find happiness together.

Can't wait for your update.

I love, love, love that they are friends ... for now?  Anyway, you are truly talented and thank you so much for this fic.  I don't have direct or indirect experience with addiction so this is quite an eye-opener for me.  I'm spellbound!

I really can't wait for the time to be right for them to be together. They both seem so lonely. They are still in love after all those years. They just don't realize it. At least Edward is seriously dealing with his shit long term. I like him. Looking forward to the next chapter!

OMG...only 2 chapters left..you will be pulling my heart out with your teeth when this story ends...So many sweet things in this cahpter..it still made me cry...and I was really touched by the part where Edward talks about that he's been alive long enough to have been living away from his parents longer than he was with them...I remember that year of my life...and it dawned on me...if they screwed me up 18 years worth...I was not 18 years of unscrewing...so now I was on my time...weird but I remember thinking that...your story reminded me..

I love it so much...it has a special place in my recovering heart...

Great Chapter! I am glad that they are so close now.

Love Esme/Carlisle and that he is 19 years sober.... like seeing him as a total and flawed human being.  Also like seeing Bella and Edward spending time just hanging out and talking and "being" together - each seeking company and comfort.  Road trip to Chicago, Bella??  ;)

Reviewer: booklover08 (Signed) · Date: July 23, 2010 06:37 PM · On: Chapter 24

well, this chapter mostly made me feel achy for both of them, although the honesty by the pool was useful and needed....  ;)

Reviewer: pixie1 (Signed) · Date: July 23, 2010 06:26 PM · On: Chapter 25

Sigh.... I just love this story and I don't want it to end, but I can't wait to reread it. I am always amazed by your writing style. The narratives you give to Edward and Bella are so smart and literate. You should seriously think about changing the names and gettng this published. Seriously. It's so good.

Reviewer: jewelsw (Signed) · Date: July 23, 2010 06:02 PM · On: Chapter 25

I smiled through most of this chapter.  Watching them just be friends and have fun together.  You could sense the underlying feelings that Edward mentions that are there and I'm proud of them for knowing it isn't the right time yet. It was nice to not cry through a chapter. I can't believe there are only 2 more chapters left! As always, an amazing story!

There moving forward that's important...hope they get it together even more

Reviewer: holtzgirl (Signed) · Date: July 23, 2010 05:10 PM · On: Chapter 25

Just 2??? I don't want it to end!!

Reviewer: sophie921 (Signed) · Date: July 23, 2010 04:43 PM · On: Chapter 25

He is still such a little boy working it all out -- it is endearing and I'm glad that they are good friends.  That is the basis of a relationship, the foundation.

Reviewer: Tasty (Signed) · Date: July 23, 2010 03:56 PM · On: Chapter 25

God I want life to work out for this Edward, much more more than I want them to work out together even.  There isn't a SINGLE time that I observe someone struggling with an addiction or abuse and don't bathe my soul in gratitude for the choices I made and the ability my brain had to numb itself against pain that allowed me to escape those difficult ends time and time again.  Just barely...legacy most certainly is a bitch, dear Bella.

There have been periods in this fic when I simply hurt too much to read on now that I have lost the ability to dampen or numb myself, or the intensity lingered with me for days and plagued both my daydreams and nightmares.  Your raw, beautiful and genuine writing style and characters inspired that, and I thank you sincerely for sharing and seeing this through to its end.  These two have suffered and hurt and struggled and grown and hated and loved and simply survived - I desperately want for them to give each other the passionate and loving companionship that I know they can.  I enjoy a HEA as much as the next person, but I've never wanted one as badly as I want for this Bella and this Edward.

great chapter as always

I can't believe there are only two chapters left!  I love this story and I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends but I don't want it to be over.

Great tie-in of carlisle and esme with carlisle having been an addict too and nice.

I especially liked the fact that you skipped forward again and we get to see edward and bella as friends and can kind of fill-in the gaps for ourselves.

I never thought that I would see the day when I would read one of these chapters without having cried or without wanting to cry :)

I loved it - like slow dancing for the first time, awkard and beautiful!

Reviewer: Dragonflygrl (Signed) · Date: July 23, 2010 10:18 AM · On: Chapter 25

I love that they are taking time and getting to know each other again.  This is the way it should have been the first time for them.  I'm so sad the story is almost over, but hoping for a happy ending :)  I've enjoyed it so much.
