Ah, well this answers most of my questions from my last review... a cover-up!  That would give an explanation for why there was no DNA match, nor a connection brought up about "the beast" and could even explain why they might not have pursued any leads of questionable characters in the bar that night.

This has bugged me since the chapter that depicted the attack on Bella...  In the trial for Angela's raped it was stated they had DNA.  Since it was essentially a he said/she said case, Edward was able to win by discrediting the victim.  However, in Bella's case, the stabbing, her cut and torn clothing, her screaming, and her being found unconscious in an alley makes it obvious that it was a rape and attempted murder.  So, the hospital would have done a rape kit on her as soon as she was stable enough, her clothing would have been given to the police, and so on.  Since they had James' DNA on file from the previous rape charge, they should have gotten a hit on it when they ran it through the system.  And, even if he wore a condom and managed to somehow NOT leave any other physical evidence (hair, saliva, etc), the police should still have gotten a viable lead out of her report because her statement in the hospital was strongly suggestive of someone who had been previously arrested for sexual assualt.  Add in the self-labeling of "the Beast" by the attacker, a good dectective should have had little difficulty coming up with a suspect to use in a voice line-up by simply starting with the most recent individuals arrested for sexual assault and going backwards from there.  I would also think they'd ask her about anyone that might have stood out in some way to her from the bar which would then have led to her describing the man that had given her the creeps and who also happened to be the one who told her to go down that hall when she asked where to find the restrooms.

I'm enjoying the story even with that issue blaring at me. :)  One thing I'd have suggested had I been reading this when you were first writing it would be to change the tense to past tense.  I've never come across any stories written in present tense until I began reading fan fiction, and I have to say that it drives me bonkers (I actually rewrite it in my head as I'm reading, changing the tense as I go).

In some ways, it was shorter and less intense than I actually had expected it to be. But there was plenty in there I didn't expect. Rosalie being soft towards Bella is knew; no matter the story, no matter the circumstances, she is not ever really soft. I mean, maybe less harsh than usual, assuming she likes Bella, but never that kind and soft. So that was a little surreal. I was surprised to see Bella run away; I kind of anticipated something more like her going into shock or something. And then maybe Alice killing him.
But obviously the hardest is yet to come.... I'm already cringing.

Of course she blames herself. Because, what else would she do?? But, okay, so she heard that Edward was in the hospital...obviously, though, we know he isn't. Not anymore. He wasn't there for a week, so she's getting this a little late. So, what, is she going to rush off to the hospital in search of him? That would be...interesting.

I like this doctor already. But now I really need a BPOV. Need to know what's going on over there...

Such a tenuous connection, that he would know from a nickname who she was talking about. What if she hadn't referred to him by that name? Edward may not have ever made the connection. One of those 'one in a million' sort of things. I spent this whole time wondering how you might do it, and it never occured to me that Edward might know the nickname. On the bright side, at least he had the forethought to say 'I love you' before he left; maybe Bella will be less likely to think he left because of her? Okay, yeah, and maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Sometimes, when you're doing the alternate POV of a chapter you just did, it feels a little rushed. I mean, I can see why; I don't think I could ever write a double chapter like that, it must be hard. I honestly don't know how one does it. But I do like getting both POVs, and typically it get spretty confusing when there's a constant back-and-forth in the chapter itself, simply to avoid the doubles. But anywho, I was pretty shocked that she actually agreed to go out with him. And right then and there, too. I think Alice's reaction was pretty funny, though. This next bit ought to be interesting....

She really didn't tell him all that much, did she? I mean, I figured she'd be pretty vague at first, but maybe nto quite that vague? I love that Edward is being so supportive, of course, but obviously this is just the preface of the beginning. Hm...

I do want to know what happens when Edward finally does find out, and I want to see how all of this comes together. However, at the same time, your numerous warnings aside, there was no part of me naive enough to think, coming into this story, that I would find a whole lot of rainbows and unicorns. So yeah, bring on the angsty shite....
That said, I enjoyed this chapter. Jasper's accent was a little hard to keep up with, but I thought he was pretty entertaining, and the four of them sure made for an interesting little family unit.

I'm just sitting here on pins and needles, waiting for things to start coming out. *makes anxious face*

Edward yelling at himself all the time can be annoying, or at least it was in te beginning of this chapter. He automatically assumes he's done something wrong if Bella doesn't respond right away, or give some positive reinforcement. And here I thought he was the sort of guy who didn't want a girl fawning all over him! Seriously, he's got some issues!

Yeah, Cynthia is pretty awesome. And Edward is totally being a panty-waste, lol. I can't believe Bella gave him her number, though. Looking forward to her point of view.

The horror of going through something like that.... Communicated very well. Talk about living in hell....

Reviewer: twilightlvr107 (Signed) · Date: July 17, 2013 11:42 AM · On: Chapter 2 - Edward

Very intense. And self-destructive. Not liking reading him this way. I know this isn't going to be a fluffy story, but I do hope for at least the occasional chapter where the heavy lets off a little.

Angsty story...my favorite. Not. But it sounds so good...I cannot...resist....

Fabulous story. The portrayal of how both Bella and Edward were damaged was gut-wrenching; just as the story of how they healed each other was heart-warming.

The more I read here at Twilighted the more I like the AH stories. Does that make me weird? (OK, I know I'm weird; I'm probably one of only eleven men that read stories on this entire site.)  ;-)
