Okay I offically am completely in loved in Angela. Seriously. The girl is too awesome for words. She wormed her way into Bella's life despite her protests, she cared for her, she endured this all around heartbreaking situation just because she thought it was the right thing to do, she called the Cullens, she is trying so hard to make everything okay again... Angela went above and beyond and continues to be there for Bella even though she could hand the entire situation over to the Cullens now that they are here. Gah. I love this girl hard. And she handled Edward wonderfully. She rightfully let out some of her frustration with him and the entire situation when he first arrived. But after that outburst she listened and emphatized with him. She saw that he too was broken and even though he made some mistakes he deserves to be given another chance. I loved how easily she declared herself 'Team Edward.' Angela is going to be a crucial buffer between Bella and the Cullens, and I can't wait to see how everything plays out.

Gah! I love Angela! This chapter was so good. Edward deserved that slap in the face and I am glad it was Ang that delivered it. I can't wait for more drama to unfold.

Okay. So the chapter may have pulled a tear or two from these eyes.
Angela is the perfect friend ... so loving and loyal, fierce when she has to be ... I wonder why no one has ever written a multi chapter story about her.
And I have to say there is something about this Edward that despite how broken he is he loves Bella so much. There is a determination there to fix her, fix them. I can only imagine the long road they have to travel to get there. I can feel the heartfail on the horizon, the tears are there waiting to spill, but I can also feel the resolution.
One can only hope that Charlie will be supportive. As a parent, will he be able to rationalize. I certainly would not hold it against him if he cannot.
Once again I find myself thankful for the shorter chapters. No fluff to wade through, just the facts, nothing more than what we need to process the enormity of the situation. I am ready.

Ellie, you never cease to amaze me. I say this every chapter, but that was OMG...WOW...AMAZING. Each chapter gets better and better, which really sucks, because I have to deal with the distress and anxiety of waiting for another one!!!!! This one got me, really. I love Angela, she bold ass told Edward what she thought, but did not hold it against him. I am sure she was F U R I O U S with him thinking he intenetially did this, until she say him. SHe had to gett that out, for her sake, for Bella's and for Edward's, I think. I love that even as mad at him as she was (Bella is obviously her best friend, who has been hurt horribly by him, every protective bone in her body probably wanted to skin him alive) she assessed him, really looked and listened to him, and realized he was as bad off as she was, possibly more so. Bella has his baby with er, what did he have?
You ROCK girl! Please don't make us wait SO long! (Yes, I did notice it was only 2 days...but still...)

First, I so love your writing style. It is extremely emotional, without being overwrought. You tell a great story, and take time with the details, which is the key to drawing in the reader. We really care about these characters because you have taken the time and effort to tell us what they're feeling, thinking, seeing, and doing.
These comments, however, do no apply to your main characters. I believe that is a choice on your part, to flesh out your secondary characters, and leave your protagonists simply one-dimensional zombies crippled by anguish and horrible decisions. But we're up to Chapter 20 and we have absolutely no insight into either of their characters except that they're desperately in love, they have really poor judgment, and they're really, really stubborn. Why on earth would they want to be together? Are you setting up a Wuthering Heights kind of scenario?
I have faith in you because you've done such a tremendous job so far, but perhaps it's time to put some meat on Bella and Edward's bones and give them a personality. They're going to come into conflict soon, and if they have no soul, it's just going to come off as whiny and screechy on her part and pathetic on his.
It's time for him to man up. I thought it was going to happen after Esme smacked him around in the bathroom (figuratively), but here he is back to stumbling aroundi n the hospital, needing Alice to lead him to a chair. (Seriously? He can't make it to a chair by himself?). Give us a reason to want them to get back together!
And Bella. God heavens. The choices she's made are dreadful. What she's done to her parents is horrendous, leaving them to think she's dead for all these months. And now we find out that her poverty has left her unable to properly care for herself, so that she's malnourished, and risking her pregnancy. This is stupidity on an epic scale. We can understand her decision at the beginning, driven by shame and grief, but when things got so bad that she couldn't afford food or pre-natal care, and she says she cares about this baby, wouldn't she swallow her pride and call Charlie or Renee for help? How are you going to explain these inexplicable choices she's made?
I'm on pins and needles to see what happens next. But I do want Bella and Edward to grow the hell up. As they are now, even if they get back together, they would be completely useless to each other. The Cullens would have to institutionalize them with Jasper because they're probably incapable of feeding and clothing themselves (OK, that's too harsh, but I'm trying to make a point).
Overall, totally fantastic. Your portrayal of the Cullens is spot on -- I feel like I'm reading Stephenie Meyer. I read everything to date in one night, staying up way too late. Can't wait to see what comes next!
Author's Response: Thank you for your honesty and your review. You are right. The first leg of this story purposely uses outside characters as the eyes and ears and voices. Edward and Bella have yet to be fleshed out. Yet to be. The scene on the plane with Esme is the beginning of Edward's journey (venom imagery) but he has a long way to go. Bella's start will come. I truly hope you stay with the story as there is redemption eventually. Again, many thanks for the review! Sorry for the block shaped answer, but I am text'ing it from a Blackberry!

I really like the parallels between this Edward and the "burning man" Edward in Breaking Dawn. I think that you do a good job of getting Edward's agony to come across. I feel like I should be crying in the waiting room too.
