When Alice told Bella how Edward is with Elizabeth and that he calls her "Little Love" I just melted. I do think that she's being very forgiving, maybe a little too forgiving, but she does have Elizabeth to think about and she loves them all so much. Although I guess she hasn't made any decisions yet, she's just sounding them all out.

I'm glad you made it clear that she hasn't forgiven them yet. I know she will in the long run, and forgiveness is a virtue and all that, but come on...just like with the need to see Edward, forgiveness takes time. It's divine, yes, but immediate forgiveness sometimes seems hollow. It's good to see her still working through things.
The interaction with Bella was sweet. This seems canon for them (well, their human selves anyway).
I look forward to the next chapter. For some reason I'm envisioning the meeting not going over too well. I just foresee Bella offering to let him go, to be happy without her. To let him know he doesn't have to stay with her for the sake of Elizabeth.
I'm also curious as to when our Lizzie will finally meet her mommy.
I foresee tears and giggles during that meeting!!

I agree that Alice is overly optimistic. Sure they will get better eventually but not no time soon. I think that the Edward/Bella talk will be...hmmm, interesting but it will be very emotional and if, and only if Bella hears him out will there be any kind of 'step in the right direction'...i dont want to even try and imagine how it will go because i just dont want to get my hopes up and get a major heart fail. So i put the next chapter in your hands my dear...dont screw it up, m'kay? Lol, no pressure or anything...

Ithink that when they finally see each other it'll be with all three of them together. I think Bella will ask why over and over again, but I don't think she'll go ballistic on him. Maybe she'll be in awe of him, his presence, but won't be able to express it. I'm not sure. You're not easy to figure out for me. That's why I read and enjoy NLT. =)

Beautifully written...you captured both (Alice & Em) of their essence in this chapter. Their interaction with Bella in this chapter is spot on.
One sentence in this chapter spoke volumes to me...
"Then, by the grace of all things beautiful, she lifted her arms and held them out to me and my entire world shattered and sang with compassion, the forgiveness she was showing me."
I am a true believer in actions speak louder than words. This to me showed Bellas forgiveness to Alice and all the questions after were mearly for knowledge.
Yes, I think Bella is still very hurt and it will take time to truly heal but Bella's love for all of the Cullens is unconditional. She wouldn't and couldn't turn her back on them.
Next chapter....not sure how much will happen....Bella and Edward definately need to be in the same room together. They need baby steps right now....she still needs to remain calm. I think it would be great if Edward was to bring Elizabeth to Bella. That would definately relieve alot of tension for their first meeting.
Can't wait to see what you have for us!!

ooooohhh! another amazing chapter. methinks toooo that bella has some more craaap to work through. i don't know if it's with edward, next chapter, or with esme?hmmm. no se. i think she needs to get a little more... unbroken, and maybe esme has just the right kind of motherly love to do that. because really, we all know that there isn't anything quite like being held by mom. even if we're adults.

Wow, this was hard. Very emotiona. I teared up a few times. I hate to see people cry, but I am glad to see they are moving in the right direction. I loved how Bllea didn't say a word, but just opened her arms. I think she does want to see the Cullen's again and have them in her life, but is scared to get burned and then all the BS they have dealt with. It think this is Bella's way of working up to Edward. If she can face them and put her shit with them behind her, even if it is only a little bit, then she won't feel so alone when she does see Edward. JMHO. I like theories. And that is mine.
Now, next chapter, ahh the elusive 41th chapter that i have been waiting on forever. I don't really know what is going to happen. I do know that it is going to be hard to read. I can see them having to hash some stuff out and the guilt is going to be huge. I expect lots of tears and heartache. Maybe some screaming.
I think Edward is going to be so caught up in wanting to work things out with Bella and she is probably not going to be very receptive of it. Of all the Cullen's, his departure was the worse, so she is going to probably have a hard time even looking at him. Much less talking. I have a bad feeling about it, like they aren't just going to make up at the end of the chapter. Like they will have a very long road and it will take them forever to get down it. I also have a feeling I am going to need lots of tissues too, so warn me when it goes in cue so I can be prepared, OK?
Alright, long ass review. But I am excited for the next chapter. You have broken my heart with alice, I can onyl imagine what it will be like with Edward. Oh, and I loved Emmett. As always update soon.

This chapter was very touching. I am so glad Alice was able to sneak in such a good defense for Edward. I love how you've managed to convey some of his pain to Bella before the 'meeting' so he may have half a chance.
Being the hopeless sob that I am, I would love the reunion to be in Edward's POV, and to have the first part of the conversation between their eyes only, before the dialogue starts (does that make sense?) I don't think Bella will completely forgive him right away, but maybe some small amount of affection would be okay. Oh, and maybe Elizabeth can show up.
A lot to hope for, I know. :)
