I find a lot of fanfiction is based on trivial aspects of life, or sometimes authors only brush the surface with emotions that could fill an entire book.
I thought this was great. I loved how it was Esme and her grief instead of one of the other characters. Somehow, it made it more heartbreaking that he brought her into this life only to leave her. What I especially liked was the ending - just when I thought she would end her existence, she remembered her promise to Carlisle.
This was beautiful. It really brought a tear to my eye. Great job.

So very sad. I wonder what you had in mind for the circumstances behind Carlisle's death, but I think you made a good literary choice in not fully explaining. Made my heart hurt, but so beautiful too. Well done.
