Reviews For The Last Breath

The amount of research put into this story is incredible. Sometimes, reading it is like a more entertaining version of my lectures at uni. :) I've learnt a few things about infections and penicillin that I haven't encountered in med school yet. I look forward to confirming them during my clinical years. Thanks for the awesome story.

Such an odd mix of happiness and sadness in the conclusion of the tale; but then that pretty much reflects the times in reality, from what my grandparents and others told me.

Loved the read :)

My guess is Mike, just because he gets on my nerves and we have no attachment to him in this story.

I think I realized another piece of the puzzle in this chapter, about hiding relationships in the military.  Interesting.   I'll be anxious to see if I was right:) Great chapter by the way!

I'm actually really glad the way the confrontation went with Lauren, I think it was better for all of them that Bella was able to step back (as much as the situation would allow) and she that Lauren had no malicious intent.  It makes for a much healthier recovery for all:)

I had just a fleeting inkling of it a couple of times, but I thought I was just jumping to conclusions.  For some reason I knew when Jenks said that Lauren cried when she heard Bella was alive, and that he didn't see the baby before he buried her, that she was probably still alive.  Love it!  What a great fic!

That was definitely intense- deliciously so!  I'm still hanging on your every word too!

This is such a fantastic fic and very well written, I'm totally shocked that you don't have thousands of reviews already.  Great job, I can't wait to get to the next chapter!

When you said that Jasper was dad I kept thinking that he wasn't because that is what everyone said about Bella, Edward, and Serena and they were all still alive.  I would love for a sequel and say that Jasper wasn't really dead but had to fake his own death by leaving just one dog tag at the scene for some reason or another like he wasn't safe and why he hadn't contacted anyone or maybe he is in a hospital stuck somewhere.  Sorry just wishful thinking!!!  I loved this story and could not keep the tears from falling at the end.  I just hate it for Alice.  Maybe Alice and Peter could get together and find love again.  I commend you on a wonderful story and is obvious you did some research on it.  Great Job!!

Thank you for hours of wonderful reading.  Please continue this story with a sequel.  There are still so many things I would like to know about regarding everyone.

Beautiful reunion and a way for them to have her without too much pain.

Reviewer: lilgreen (Signed) · Date: June 18, 2011 06:14 PM · On: Chapter 18 Fare Thee Well

Well, I was definitely wrong about Emmett and Rosalie. But that's ok because I was worried about taking the baby away from them. I'm still holding out for Victoria though

Reviewer: lilgreen (Signed) · Date: June 18, 2011 05:40 PM · On: Chapter 17 Prey

Wow, very powerful. I guess I should have seen th Charlie angle. If you stick with cannon there are a few things that will probably happen. The first, Victoria will be James' accomplice and second, Emmett and Rosalie will probably have Serena. I guess we will see.

Reviewer: lilgreen (Signed) · Date: June 18, 2011 08:18 AM · On: Chapter 13 - Unearthed

I guess I can do a bit of a happy dance now. I guess I have read novels where babies were switched and this just fit. Thanks

Reviewer: lilgreen (Signed) · Date: June 17, 2011 07:59 PM · On: Chapter 10 Confession

So sweet. I'm still hoping they find the baby well and alive.

Reviewer: lilgreen (Signed) · Date: June 17, 2011 05:52 PM · On: Chapter 9 Air

Yeah, I like Jasper too. It really is incredible how fast Penicillin works.

Reviewer: lilgreen (Signed) · Date: June 17, 2011 04:46 PM · On: Chapter 6 Brittle Battle

It would be bad enough to have to go through the burn treatments now...I can't even imagine what it would have been like then.

Reviewer: lilgreen (Signed) · Date: June 17, 2011 02:04 PM · On: Chapter 5 Sterile

Your storytelling is wonderful. I almost feel as if I were there. I have a feeling thet the baby isn't really gone and I'm hoping that we hear about that in the future. I'm glad that I don't have to wait too long for the next chapter. Thank you.

I love you historical references.
Of course it must be Shelly Cope.

I am very impressed with what you have done here. I have seen this story posted for quite a while but I have a tendency to wait til they are complete (I hate to wait). I am really looking forward to what happens next

I've really enjoyed validating this story.  I always look forward to seeing it come up in the queue.  I especially appreciate the notes at the end of the chapter--that's really going above and beyond as an author. I did sort of expect Jasper to be miraculously alive, but I still loved the ending. Great story!

Author's Response:

Hi Strider,

First let me say thank you for your review, I'm so glad you enjoyed the story.  The factual events that have found their way into TLB are only a tiny fraction of the history that is out there but it's been amazing to learn about the history.  I've been awed, terrified and also humbled by what I have found. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it and perhaps even learned something new along the way.

Although TLB's bittersweet ending is realistic, it may leave readers wondering about Jasper's death.  I'm working on a follow on story to The Last Breath and hope to have it up soon.

Take care,

wait.. what?! I didn't want to be "right" about that... ahhhhhhh (I think sums it up)

Poor Alice :P

Oh and that push mower sounds awfully familiar to me, I think that was the same model I had to use at my grandparents house as a kid... it was "fun" for about the first line or two hehe

Author's Response:

Hi Daylen,

My grandfather had one of those push mowers too.  Although, he lived in a big city and only had to "push" the mower through three strips of grass before he could call it quits for the day :).

I hope you enjoy the final chapter, and I want to let you know how much i appreciated all of your reviews for this story.

Aside from the backdrop of the war & worrying about Charlie's fate, this was a very enjoyable chapter!
it's weird, knowing that the war is ending, but still being concerned which way you'll take some characters before it does :)

Author's Response:

Hi Daylen,

I'm unsure if you're clairvoyant or if you've read between the lines but I've been hesitant to post a response before the next chapter was published.  There are certainly many different ways Edward and Bella's story could go but in the end this about their struggle to find their daughter and make peace with themselves.  For Edward he has to come to terms with Riley's death and be happy with the future he will make with Bella and Serena.  For Bella, she has to accept that she can lean on her husband and still be strong and whole in herself.  Finding comfort in him doesn't make her weaker, it gives her another way to succeed.

I hope you enjoy the last two chapters.

twists & turns left & right there... Charlie's mind was about what I'd have expected for his role & from stories of friends & family whom have served over the years.

Author's Response:

Hi Daylen,

Yes this chapter is a far cry from normally writing from Edward's perspective, but I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter from Charlie's POV. It's kind of funny because when I read Midnight Sun, I never really gave much thought to Edward disliking being the minds of others. It wasn't until I wrote this chapter that I got a better appreciation for what SM meant. Writing from Edward's perspective is easy. Deep down he's a good guy who has the best intentions at heart. It's much different to write from Charlie's point of view. He's much more hardened about life and war. His mind isn't always the nicest place to be. However, in the end, he did as he vowed for the young soldiers who died under his command. He ended Victoria, James and Laurent. The missions under project Ultra could continue without the nagging fear of being picked off from the inside. Without a doubt, Charlie made good on his word.

This chapter does have a lot of twists and turns. When James heard Victoria call his name across the quad, he thought it was Bella mocking him. He lost it, his rage and desire to kill Bella allowed him to easily overpower the less experienced Private Whitlock. The third mole was Laurent. He shot Charlie. Jasper shot James. Charlie shot Laurent before he could shoot Jasper.

If you have any questions or if anything needs more explination, just let me know.

I have to admit to panicking a bit as Alice tackled Bella - I get the feeling that could have easily been a bad thing :P
Looking forward to finding out more about the mole :) oh & had to chuckle at Emmett's phonecall!

Author's Response:

Hi Dayleen,

Yes, Alice in her eagerness to get to see her friend could easily have really hurt her.  Luckily our hero gets to Bella in the nick of time. :)  Alice is a powerhouse.  I hope you'll enjoy reading about her and learning more about her character.  Alice and Jasper star in my next story called The Long Way Home.  It picks up part way through The Last Breath and tells the story of how Alice and Jasper develop a relationship an ocean apart through letters.

I'm hoping the next chapter will be up soon.  The next one will be from Col Swan's point of view.  We'll see what happens with Jasper and the mole...
