Summary: It is the year 1353. Europe has been ravaged by the plague, and millions died. Now the scourge has ended and religion is flourishing. To thank God for their deliverance, or to atone for the sins of their dead loved ones, many people will go on pilgrimages, either to near or far away destinations. We will follow a number of such pilgrims, willing to worship at San Marcus’ shrine. But, things are not always what they seem. The handsome young monk leading them is very pale under his cowl, and he appears to be fasting all the time. Plus, all of them have secrets and very few are innocent. Will they find love or death at the end of the journey?

This is a Pre Twilight AU story. It is rather dark and there are no Edward and Bella, obviously. Feel like reading it all the same? I hope so, because I promise you a passionate love story, despite the setting. The rating is NC 17, for violence, sex and, just in one case, slash.

The night he woke up in the hospital with a broken arm, two broken ribs, cuts, scrapes, bruises and charges of felony possession of a controlled substance his father gave up trying to save him. Determined to get back in his father's good graces, Edward befriends Isabella, the only daughter of Carlisle's close personal friend who has come to live with the Cullen's for the next year while she fulfills her scholarship to study contemporary ballet under the prestigious Victoria James at the Washington Academy of Performing Arts in Seattle. Edward's plan backfires when Carlisle forbids his son from being with Bella, but can Edward keep his distance now that he's found his new addiction?

I'd been dissatisfied more times than I could count in the past two years, which probably wasn't a bad thing. Usually, it just meant another long month of disappointment on my part when we realized the new batch of women were no good. We'd found several candidates that fit our needs, but as was often the case, they lacked that certain spark I'd personally been looking for. It didn't matter, though; I always had a lot of fun deciphering through the rejects.

It wasn't about promiscuity; it wasn't about experimentation, although we did plenty of that. Our program was about learning how to find sexual pleasure, adapting to different methods, and finding that one person who chemically and physically matched us to perfection.

 Rated NC-17 for graphic lemons, sexual/adult content, and foul language. Canon couples...eventually.

What’s a girl to do when she determines that there aren’t any good men left?  She creates them.  Bella Swan was unlucky in love, so she started creating dream men in fiction.  She wrote about the kind of man she’d love to meet and fall in love with, and for the amount of time it took to write her romance novels, she felt like she had a love of her own.  It wasn’t real, but in her opinion, real love wasn’t something that was within her grasp, so the fantasy was better than nothing. 

One day, suffering from writer’s block, she went to the corner café for a change of scenery.  When a cowboy tripped over her purse, she was so captivated by his appearance, that she had inspiration for a new character in her latest book.  He walked away with only a few words in her direction, and all she had was the visual of his green eyes and wild hair to go on, but for her, it was enough to fuel her imagination.

The stars at night are big and bright…deep in the heart of Texas.  Life holds mysteries that one can never fathom, and maybe there’s such a thing as fate.  Maybe, every once in a while, fate gives a hand to a lonesome cowboy and a romantic at heart…sometimes with a little help from a rabbit.

Hypothesis: Vampires are capable of vertical inheritance.

Objectives:

1. Get Jasper knocked up at least three times in one story. Why? Because it is not nearly as funny to knock up any of the other vampires. And since female vampires are just as hard to knock up as males, might as well go all the way and choose Jasper.


2. Knock up all the other Cullens while I am at it. Why? Because I can’t think of a good reason why Jasper would be any more knocked up than the rest of them. Maybe Emmett would be… but Emmett is not as funny.


3. Accuse Edward of having a sexual relationship with his piano and bring up this accusation as many times as possible without Bella finding out.


4. End in a war between the Cullens and the Volturi, because the Volturi think Carlisle is lying about vampires laying eggs. Why? Because it is the funniest reason for a war I can think of.


5. Explain vampire genetics, using plasmids, in a way that is one hundred percent compatible with everything ever said by Stephenie Meyer about vampires.


6. Explain how vampires can reproduce vertically without violating the “vampires cannot change” law of vampiredom.


7. Make entire story one hundred percent biologically accurate, despite the vampires. Why? Because I’m a biologist.


8. Tell a bunch of Cullenesque stories and make it funny, because that which is funniest is best.
