Summary: Jake returns home to Forks to take a job as a deputy for the Clallam County Sheriff, after a decade in the Army. He meets Carlisle as his cousin's hottie neighbor. The two share some trauma, become friends, and then lovers. This series of one-shots tells some of the stories of their lives. rn Note: I have aged Jake so that he is only about two years younger than Carlisle. Otherwise the story assumes the canon histories of the major characters. These one-shots are AU Human.

Will the mystery of her condition and the events that she has overcome in Edward’s absence be revealed?
